Question by John: Can political thrillers be considered for the Pulitzer Prize in the fiction category?

On the Pulitzer Prize website it says only that novels chosen as Fiction category winners should deal with American life. But would a fictional novel about American politics fall into this category?

It could be considered, but probably wouldn't be - Pulitzer Prize-winning novels are generally serious literature, rather than "thrillers."
