Family portrait and Brick House by photographer Andreas Larsen Dahl

Family

Family around table in yard with birch trees, and brick house with addition and shutters in background; porch has plants and two bird cages hanging from it. A stuffed owl sits on the table.

A Norwegian immigrant, photographer Andreas Larsen Dahl made more than 1,200 images of people, towns, and landscapes primarily in Dane County, during the 1870s. His photographs illustrate the development of Dane County and the growth of many of its towns and villages including Madison, Mazomanie, and Middleton, as well as rural farm life in the county. Dahl also photographed families, including many Norwegian, Swedish, and other immigrants, in front of their homes and farms, often with their most prized possessions.

Shoe family III

Family

I've seen quite a few shoe pictures in strobist pool lately, and those gave me an idea to shoot a "family portrait" of shoes.

Strobist: shoot-through umbrella slightly on the left and almost above the shoes.
